Home Learning

One of the aims of our teaching is for children to develop as independent learners, and we believe that completing home tasks is one way in which children can acquire the skill of independent learning.  Homework is also one of the many ways in which strong links between home and school can be fostered.  It enables parents to help their children to learn and children to see parents and teachers working together.

At Moorlands we acknowledge the important role of play and free time in a child’s growth and development and are well aware that children spend more time at home than at school.  We believe that they develop their interests and skills to the full only when parents encourage them to make maximum use of the opportunities available both inside and outside school.

Homework plays a positive role in raising a child’s level of attainment and is a way in which parents can support their child’s learning and be part of that process.
