Royal Navy Helicopter Visit

The children at Moorlands were treated to a thrilling experience when a Royal Navy Wildcat Helicopter came to land at school.

We are enormously grateful to a member of the parental community, who is a Royal Navy pilot. He not only organised the visit with Mrs Boyce in EYFS but also flew the helicopter on to the school site. The visit took place as part of the EYFS children’s themeof ‘Heroes’.

“It was a thrill to see how excited the children were about this once-in-a-lifetime experience. We were warned that it would be windy and noisy but the excitement far outweighed any worries about this!” said Miss Sellars.

The children from the two EYFS classes had the opportunity to get up close to look at the helicopter and even had the chance to sit in the cockpit and wear the pilots’ helmets. The rest of the school were invited to watch the helicopter land, shut down, start up and take off.
