Our School Site

Moorlands Schools Federation is situated on a large and beautifully green site in the south of Bath.  The site sits between Englishcombe Lane and Moorfields Road and has stunning views across the world heritage city of Bath.

Our schools were built within what used to be the grounds of Moorlands, a 19th century property with a six storey tower that still stands today.  Moorlands was once the home of Anna Sewell, author of Black Beauty, and it was said that her writing was greatly inspired by the views.

Children at Moorlands benefit from access to the whole school site. With an amazing amount of space both indoors and outdoors, we are able to create interesting and exciting environments for our children to explore and use for learning, sport and play.

Our children have access to four playgrounds, playing fields, woodland and nature areas, such as a pond and forest, and every year group has a weekly Outdoor Learning lesson.  Our EYFS and Year 1 children also benefit from covered space outside of their classrooms, meaning that they are able to move freely inside and out whatever the weather. We seek to develop Outdoor Play and Learning (OPAL) as a programme supporting better, healthier play and learning in schools. We use play equipment, mud kitchens and our Playpod to at playtimes. The children are encouraged to think creatively and work collaboratively.

Within our two buildings, children have spacious classrooms, two large halls, two libraries and two children's kitchens.  Children are able to use a range of computing equipment including laptops, iPads and Chromebooks to support their learning in the classroom.

We are proud to offer school meals cooked on the premises which children can enjoy in our dining hall.

The Breakfast Club and After-School Clubs are run by Moorlands Schools Federation and exist to provide high quality out-of-school hours childcare for our parents/carers. They provide a range of stimulating and creative activities in a safe environment and are run by experienced school staff to provide continuity for the children attending.

The extended hours are from 7:30am–8.45am and 3.15–6.00pm during term time. Current costs and our extended provision policy are available on the website here.
